STUDIO PROTOCOL FOR REGISTERED STUDENTS

Covid-19 Policies for Reopening September 2020

Welcome back to Season 34 at Moves & Motions School of Dance!

We are SO excited to host you for this season and have prepared the following information to help you have a happy, healthy, and safe return to classes.

  • Moves & Motions follows  the  More Than Just Great Dancing ® Safer Studio Guidelines which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures including:
  • Wellness checks for staff
  • Frequent hand hygiene
  • Enhanced cleaning procedures
  • Minimizing mixing and mingling via social distancing practices
  • Curricular and facility adjustments
  • Gradual re-opening and continuous parent communications.

Please see below for the specific way we are applying these guidelines for this season.

Wellness Checks for Staff

  • Moves & Motions is a Youth Protection Advocates in Dance® Certified Studio. Additionally, all teachers and staff members will receive regular and continuing safety training as it relates to preventing community spread of COVID-19.
  • All staff members are wellness checked and documented before their shift.

Frequent Hand Hygiene

  • Employees will wash hands and/or sanitize before and after each class.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available outside of all entrances, lobbies, and will be available inside the classrooms. Students will be encouraged to wash hands and/or sanitize before and after classes.
  • Hand washing posters are posted in bathrooms and throughout the studios.

Enhanced Cleaning Procedures

  • We have increased our cleaning frequencies and sanitation procedures in high traffic areas and high touch surfaces of the studio such as doors, viewing windows, barres, floors, counters, stereos, and bathrooms.

Minimized Mixing and Mingling

  • We have made facility, scheduling, and curriculum changes to reduce mixing and mingling in support of social distancing recommendations. However, we understand that unlike older children and adults, young children cannot be expected to maintain social distancing at all times

Facility & Curriculum Adjustments

  • All lobby waiting areas & dressing rooms, will be closed unless specified.
  • Please bring clearly labeled disposable water bottles. Drinking fountains will not be available.
  • Dancers will bring all dance bags into the studio for changing shoes.  Dressing rooms will be closed. Bathrooms will be available for toileting only, but not for changing clothes. Please come dressed and ready.
  • No food will be allowed in the studio.
  • Parents are asked to not send their children to class if they, or a member of their household, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days. In the event they have, children can take class via Zoom as all of our studios are now Tech Enabled®.
  • Program adjustments have been made to eliminate prop use and hand-holding and to reduce mixing and mingling in the classroom. Our baby and preschool classes will be provided with their own prop bag on week three of classes. There is no additional fee for your prop bag.
  • Class sizes have been modified to reflect current  recommendations.
  • Until further notice, studio rooms will have staggered and alternating dismissal (3-5 minutes) to allow for student transitions. Please be sure you are waiting for your child within that time frame.

Gradual Re-Opening & Continuous Parent Communication

  • We have been gradually reopening in order to ensure we are ready for the fall session.
  • Please visit our website for any updated information you may need.

Masks

MASKS ARE REQUIRED WHEN ENTERING THE BUILDING AND FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR STAY

As per NYS law, all students are required to wear a mask at all times. Our lessons are not high impact or aerobic. During our gradual reopening, we dancers have been dancing for several hours in a mask, even a full day.  Dancers have had no issue. When and if needed, we will be offering dancers breath breaks throughout the class. we recommend the paper masks if your dancer feels more comfortable.

It’s up to all of us to ensure our continued success in the weeks and months ahead. With your cooperation, we believe we can provide a fun, safe and rewarding experience for our dancers, their families and our staff.

We are so excited to get back to dance! Thank you for being part of our community.
